V&A Waterfront

I of course slept in! I’ve missed it so much; all of these early mornings are sort of killing me. We decided to make an “American” breakfast since there is no such thing here. It’s funny how you never think twice about something until you can’t have it. There is no such thing as pancakes, French toast, or waffles for breakfast here and I wanted some sooo bad! I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands, and I made French toast with eggs, grapes on the side, and some nice South African rooibos tea. I was so happy! Miles had stayed the night at Gregg’s house, so while Lauren and I were waiting for him to get back to this side of town, we went to the mall across the street from our house to pick up a few things. When he finally arrived, we headed to the V&A Waterfront—a very well known docking center for boats in the Western Cape, with a huge shopping mall called the Victoria Wharf on the same grounds. As you can imagine, it’s a huge tourist spot. It’s one of the must-see spots here in Cape Town. It was beautiful! We walked around the dock at first, and saw a seal hop up onto the walking platform and just sit there. It was kind of interesting. We all got pictures of it. Then, in front of the mall entrance, a Xhosa traditional dance was taking place, which was very neat. It is slightly different than the Zulu traditional dance, so I was glad to see it, plus it was Lauren’s first time witnessing one, so I was happy that we ran into it. The Victoria Wharf mall was so huge! It was four stories high and had every store you can imagine in it! It was fun to look around and feel a little bit at home. Speaking of home, I am getting so excited to come home! I miss it very much. Being away from it makes me appreciate every single little thing, and helps me to realize how blessed I truly am and how much I really do love where I am from. Although the world is nice, nothing compares to where I call home. I have learned that I love to travel to faraway places, as long as I can return to my home.
